For the past 5 years or so I have worked with landscape more than ever before. It has been a very positive discovery for many reasons not the least being that I have never seen myself as a landscape painter or even as a painter per se. Yet I now see why so many artists embrace it. It has provided a new visual language, which I guess is what it's all about, isn't it?
Watercolor, gouache, and pen & ink are my favorite media at this point, but the media is less important than the message. I have been in the arts professionally, commercially, and in the fine arts venue all my life. While aesthetics are always an issue and like all artists I strive for beauty in one way or another, most of my work have ideas embedded somewhere in the subject, composition, technique, or color scheme.
As someone once said, "I haven't a mystical bone in my body." Or so I like to think.
