EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES INFORMATION SHEET
DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION: March 28, 2016:
The Art 35º North (“Art35N”) Workshops Subcommittee is seeking artists to teach workshops, presents demonstrations and lectures (collectively “Educational Opportunities”) as a key component to the multi-faceted art event, Art35N 2016 Studio Tour and Exhibition (“aka Studio Tour”). These multiple related events including studio tours, gallery exhibition, workshops, lectures and demonstrations, take place from May through September 2016 (with the studio tours on the weekends of June 18th through 26th 2016 in Williams and Flagstaff, respectively). Selected works of the Studio Tour artists will have an exclusive Art35N exhibition at the Coconino Center for the Arts (“CCA”) from June 9th through early August. The Educational Opportunities will be located primarily in Flagstaff at the CCA . Under special conditions Art35N will gladly consider submissions from Exhibiting Members for workshops at other facilities.
Workshops: Art35N, in conjunction with CCA, is seeking to sponsor and promote workshops that provide the opportunity for Artist-Presenters to earn teaching revenue and to help generate revenue for Art35N and CCA to cover some of the costs of the Studio Tour events and exhibition. There will be a very reasonable fee paid to Art35N and CCA, to help defray a small portion of the marketing costs. On a case-by-case basis, Art35N, CCA and the artist-presenter will negotiate the terms of the workshop budget (including negotiating the participant fee). Workshops can be as short as a few hours or extended into multi-day time slots depending on the type of workshop it is.
Demonstrations: Art35N is encouraging Exhibiting Members who are participating in the Studio Tour to consider listing in the marketing materials that they will be doing demonstrations (see the separate “Studio Tour & Exhibition Registration Form” for additional details). These are intended to not only educate the public about the artist’s process but also drive the public to their location on the studio tour. Note that it is Art35N desire to have these demonstrations at no cost to the public. Art35N may consider helping defray a small amount of the costs to the Artist-Presenter to encourage these demos.
Lectures: CCA is highly encouraging the artists included in the Exhibition of the Studio Tour to schedule Artist Talks and mini-lectures on their process or other topics related to the Exhibition. These generally should be free to the public. Special topic lectures that do have a per-participant-fee also can be offered at any location, including CCA, upon Art35N’s committee approval.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact us at email@example.com. We hope to see most or all of you putting on an event and even participating in your fellow member’s Educational Opportunities!
You will be contacted by Art35N and/or CCA to coordinate scheduling and other details of your proposal. Thank you! You are what makes Art 35o North meeting its 4-Cs - Collaboration Conversation Community Creativity
