I have been painting and creating art for as long as I can remember. After a career in nursing and raising two children I am now back to my art in full force. I discovered using pastels and doing plein air about 15 years ago and have loved it. Plein air painting is another wonderful way to experience the outdoors and travel to new areas to explore. Pastels are rich in texture and color and allow for expanded creativity in layering and using other mediums as an underpainting. I have had a couple of wonderful opportunities as Artist in Residence at Petrified Forest National Park and Hubbell Trading Post National Monument, with two wonderful weeks of inspiration and dedicated time to paint. Yearly, I attend the Escalante Plein Air Festival and love painting the Southern Utah landscape. I also live in Tucson part of the year and paint the Sonoran Desert. We are so fortunate to live in the Southwest, with the variety of landscapes at our doorstep. It's a good life!
