I earned my MFA in Interdisciplinary Art in 2001 with a specialization in how art can be used to induce transformation, combining the fields of visual art, psychology, and religious studies.
For many years after graduating I worked as an art teacher at the elementary, secondary and college level, as well as pursuing my own art. Both of my parents were artists. My dad was a painter. My mom, Sondra Francis, currently does fused glass, but was also a jewelry designer by profession.
My background is primarily as a painter, but I also work in drawing, sculpture, and installation.
My current focus is working with Scott Moore to make collaborative pieces out of painted and engraved wood. We work together on the inspiration, design and execution of each artwork. Scott and I also recently innovated some light boxes using layers of painted wood and LED lights framed in a box. Our light boxes open a new medium for using light, space and color to play with artistic ideas.
