Inspired by meditation to return to art, Arizona based artist Therese Black finds inspiration in Buddhist Thangka paintings, nature, geometry, shamanism, and meditation. Her work takes the viewer through stories and personal experiences with life, nature, and spiritual practices. “I like to create art that is totally different from any art I have seen or already created.” She layers wax-based colored pencil and ink on rough cotton water color paper to create a smooth texture with brilliant colors. A finished piece can be drawn and redrawn as many as five times before completion. Therese also works in acrylic and oil paint.
Therese opens her art studio to the public annually and by appointment. She also exhibits her art online, in galleries, and in shows around the country. "Give me a call and come for a visit. I can fill your eyes with lots of art and your head with lots of stories. It will be fun."
