Stained glass is like cutting pieces of glass and putting a puzzle together and who doesn’t like puzzles? When I was little while sitting in church, I would stare at the stained glass windows and follow the colored light beams from the window to where it landed. I love the vibrancy of glass when the sun radiates through creating a cascade of lively colors. Creating glass art makes me feel calm and in the moment. I am influenced by landscapes, shapes and abstract images. Each project often begins with a shape I think would look interesting in a panel all the while envisioning the different glass textures and the perfect color combination to use. With each panel, I try to incorporate glass blown rondels, glass nuggets or faceted jewels. I think they add a bit of pizzazz. My satisfaction of the finished piece is observing how the sun shines through and illuminates each colored piece of glass.
